These Restaurants Have the Best Wine Lists in Los Angeles

Updated: Oct 26, 2023

Immense and diverse wine lists with options by the glass or by the bottle for people with varying tastes.

Capo

Capo's small, dimly lit space has the feel of a classic and authentic osteria, and they focus on a mix of classic and modern takes on Italian fare. However, the most incredible part about this restaurant is their 150 page wine list. With 30 pages dedicated to Italian Reds, Capo easily has the best selection of Italian wines in the city and one of the best in the country. With heavy hitters like Masseto, Sassicaia, Biondi Santi, and Giacomo Conterno, there are few, if any, Italian greats that are not represented on their list.

Maude

Of all the restaurants mentioned here, Maude has the smallest wine list at only 26 pages. That being said, it may be the most interesting list because their wine program focuses on having a very curated representation of wines from every area in the world. It includes classic options alongside those that are a bit off the beaten path, and the sommeliers do an excellent job of guiding you through the list to help you find exactly what you need. This is a great choice for anyone who wants to experience some non traditional pairings or bottles.

Providence

Providence is one of the greatest fine dining experiences in Los Angeles and their seafood focused menu uses ingredients grown in the garden on the restaurant's roof. They have a stellar wine pairing to accompany their tasting menu but their wine list is so incredible that buying by the bottle is worth considering. As they are seafood focused, their white wine selection is top notch and their White Burgundy selection in particular is the best in Los Angeles. They also have many wines that are not on the ever changing list so be sure to ask the sommelier!

Spago Beverly Hills

As one of the pioneer's of California Cuisine, it is no surprise that Wolfgang Puck's flagship Spago Beverly Hills is on this list. The restaurant has long been considered one of the greatest in the city, and they maintain an incredible wine list to match. Their Champagne, Burgundy and Bordeaux collections are quite extensive, but the depth of their American wine selection is especially impressive. They have a range of Napa vintages from high end producers such as Bond, Heitz Cellar, Shafer, and Dominus, and also feature wines from areas like Sonoma, Mendocino, Willamette and Columbia Valley.

Wally's Beverly Hills

It seems obvious that a wine store with a restaurant and bar would have a great wine list, but there is a reason that Wally's has been awarded the Wine Spectator Grand Award for their program 7 years in a row. They have the best by the glass selection in the city - the 5 page list is a sizable representation of domestic and international sparkling, white and red wines. Their bottle list is over 100 pages and includes 10 pages for just Red Burgundy. This massive list includes wines at all price ranges, and has some truly legendary bottles like a 1989 Chateau Haut Brion. The list can be daunting but their sommeliers are world class and can help you find the best option for any situation.
